JUDGEMENTAL

Don’t deny it. Don’t lie to yourself. We all know that once in our life, we judge a person base on their physical appearance.

That’s human nature. That’s us. But what we didn’t realize is we are the cause of their deep scars that even time can’t heal.

We tell jokes about how bad they look, we laugh and they would just laugh with us, pretending to be okay, pretending that the joke didn’t stab them right on the heart. We thought it’s okay to joke around with people who are ugly because they always smile with every joke we make.

But what we didn’t know is that they are hurting inside, their heart is bleeding and pleading and shouting to the society to stop. Don’t be fooled by their small smiles, calm faces or serious façade, those emotions hides deep wounds that we caused.

In our society with different nationalities and ethnicities, we depend on the ability to interact with people primarily through sight. Therefore, we worry about our appearance a lot and how people will “Think of us” or “Think of me” if I spent all day wearing this T-shirt or not matching my pants, and women worry about carrying a well-known brand of bag.

Hence, we spend a great deal of time and money tweaking our image to make it more fitting to others. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against looking good. But, a judgemental society is not productive and it kills the creativity in us. Why is that? Because we are comfortable in following trends.
